Tennis prodigy Coco Gauff has put in some impressive displays since she burst onto the scene when she beat Venus Williams at Wimbledon last year.

With dominant matches under her belt it's difficult to believe that Gauff is only celebrating her 16th birthday today!

Here are five facts you didn't know about the teenager.

1 - Her three idols outside tennis are Rihanna, Michelle Obama and Beyonce.

2 - She's a massive fan of Will Smith's son, Jaden. When she was competing in Wimbledon last year she was asked if she was more excited for his album or winning the competition, to which she responded: "Both".

3 - She is spiritual. Her father and coach, Corey, told Black Tennis Magazine: "Cori has never gone on the court one time without praying for herself and her opponent. 

"I think that's so important because it's easy to get away from some of these simple principles that make these kids well-rounded."

4 - Serena Williams is the reason she started playing tennis. She watched the tennis legend during the 2009 Australian Open final and Gauff then picked up a racket at the age of four.

5 - Her parents are both from sports backgrounds. Her father was a basketball player and he used to play for Georgia State University basketball team.

Her mother, Candi, was a gymnast, heptathlete and track star.
