Two-time Paralympic sprint champion Libby Clegg has revealed that being a contestant on Dancing on Ice 'isn't easy'. 

Clegg, who is registered as blind, survived a skate-off last night with her partner Mark Hanretty to book their spot in the semi-finals.

The 29 year-old has received plenty of support since entering the show and wows fans every week. 

She said: "I think because I'm busy being me all the time I forget that some people see what I do as incredible.

"As an athlete, I have a goal mentality and forget that dancing on ice, especially when you can't see, is not the easiest thing to do.

"It takes you by surprise and I'm never sure where I'm going to land. But it's just one of those things."

And Clegg has explained how she faces the ice week in week out.

"Through my right eye everything is blurred, but I can see the movement of my hand.

"Through my left eye I can see my hand close up but I can't see any details, such as the lines. When I'm on the ice, I know the really dark area is where the audience sits and where there's some colour is the back of the rink, so I get my bearings using these reference points, while also listening to where certain noises come from.

"What I do see day to day is really pretty, like a firework all scrunched up — there's pinks, yellows and greens — and it sparkles," she added.

Other contestants in the semi-final include former EastEnders actor Joe Swash and Alex Murphy, Diversity's Perri Kiely and Vanessa Bauer and magician Ben Hanlin and Carlotta Edwards. 

And if Clegg doesn't win the show, she has revealed who she would like to win. 

She said: "Perri is outstanding but I'd like Joe to win. I remember watching him in EastEnders, before I lost my sight, so my brain helps fill in the details of his face when I'm speaking to him."

The Dancing on Ice semi-finals will take place on March 1 at 6pm.
