Love Island 2020 still on course as bosses work 'around the clock' to keep show alive

Love Island fans are on tenterhooks as to whether this summer's show will survive - but at the moment it appears to be full steam ahead.

Programme bosses are 'working around the clock' in a bid to air the hit show, which usually starts at the end of June.

Although no start date has yet been confirmed, a source told the Daily Star Sunday that producers are doing all they can to save the summer hit.

They said: "The production team is now doing everything possible to prepare for the new series. It's a difficult time but it's a case of 'all systems go'. They're determined not to let the virus stop the series going ahead."

The insider also revealed that casting is still in progress, but not in the same format as usual.

"Obviously they can't have meetings or meet potential contestants," they said.

"But they're finding ways of getting things done in a different way. Lots of the casting process is being done via video calls."

The summer version of the dating show is usually filmed in Majorca, but this has yet to be confirmed due to the strict lockdown rules currently in place in the country.
