Tennis legend Serena Williams has said her mother is a 'legend'.

Williams is two weeks into a six-week self-imposed isolation and she shared a video of herself on Instagram discussing the legends in her life.

She said: "I wanted to reach out in this really crazy time that any of us have ever experienced before and I wanted to talk to you guys about legendary.

"Being a legend isn't necessarily being a star athlete or being the best entrepreneur or being a singer, a dancer or a top model. It's really just about being who you are, it could be your mum, your neighbour or your daughter.

"A legend for me in my life is definitely my mom. She's the reason I'm here, she's been so influential in my life. She used to do things like sew and make my outfits and I actually began sewing because of my mum.

"Even before the whole tennis thing she was always a legend in my mind. I remember I used to be attached to her at the hip and whenever she would go anywhere I would just cry and ball and it would break my heart.

"So I am saying to you, mum, you were always my legend."
