Dani Harmer to reprise Tracy Beaker role for new BBC show

Actor Dani Harmer has confirmed she will reprise her role as Tracy Beaker for a new BBC drama titled ‘My Mum Tracy Beaker’.

The series, which will be available on BBC iPlayer, will see a grown-up Tracy attempting to raise her own daughter, Jess.

Harmer finished fourth in the tenth series of Strictly Come Dancing (Doug Peters/EMPICS Entertainment)

And Harmer, 31, is excited to return to the role she first began 19 years ago as a child actor.

"I cannot wait to return to the role of Tracy! I'm just like a fan myself and want to know what happens next and where this next journey will take her," she told the Evening Standard.

"I absolutely adore playing the character and I'm looking forward to taking on the challenge of portraying her as a first time mum."

Harmer is a mother herself after she gave birth to Avarie-Belle Betsy Rachel Brough in June 2016.

"Being a mother myself I know how much it changes you so I'm looking forward to seeing how it's changed Tracy but still keeping her the same feisty strong female lead that people know and love."

The show will be based on the Jaqueline Wilson book of the same title which was released in 2018.

Tracy Beaker ran from 2002 to 2005 and then returned for second stint in 2010 until 2012.

A spin-off show titled ‘The Dumping Ground’ aired from 2013 to 2018, but Harmer did not make an appearance as Beaker until the series finale.
