From his days in One Direction to his rise as a bona fide solo artist, Harry Styles has always been one of the most impeccably-dressed pop stars on the celeb circuit.

As his surname suggests, the singer always errs on the right side of rocker chic – but he’s come a long way from the days when he’d stick to his ‘safe’ uniform of black skinny jeans, a white V-neck tee and an oversized flannel shirt.

What’s great about Harry Styles is that he’s one of the few A-list guys that isn’t afraid to experiment with his look – and he’s a major fan of colourful brands like Gucci, and gender-fluid labels like Harris Reed and Lazoschmidl.

Here, we take a look at some of the Golden singer’s best looks from recent years, and how you can score his unique style formula.

1. The time he wore a Seventies polo shirt

If boy bands are all about co-ordinating in monochrome looks, Styles completely broke the mould when he launched his solo career, opting for more flamboyant cuts and prints than he allowed himself to wear in his One Direction days. 2. The time he wore a sparkly boiler suit

While other A-list guys play it safe with classic suit colours and cuts, Styles always has a bold talking point to his outfits. Take this sparkly boiler suit, for example. Ever the fashion risk-taker, he dazzled fans at Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball in the retro-influenced look by Spanish designer Archie Alled-Martínez.

3. The time he proved men could rock pearls

Alongside his go-to silhouette of tight tees and enormous trousers, another staple of Harry Styles’ wardrobe is his beloved pearl necklace, which he wore pretty much non-stop on the press tour for his latest album, Fine Line.

Whether he’s rocking a smart suit and shirt, or sneakers and jacket, his accessory of choice is always proudly on show, causing the internet to regularly go into meltdown with speculation about his sexuality.

4. The time he made us want to rock an oversized collar 

When Styles turned up to the Brit Awards wearing this aubergine Gucci suit, an oversized collared shirt, a lilac wool sweater, his signature string of pearls and a pair of Mary-Jane shoes, he cemented his position as our ultimate genderless fashion icon.

Part-granny chic and part Elton John tribute, it was easily the best look on the 2020 Brit Awards red carpet.

5. The time he made neck scarves cool

Speaking of the Brit Awards, Styles changed into this sunshine-coloured three-piece Marc Jacobs suit later in the evening, which he accessorised with a lilac neck scarf.

The womenswear suit, which was seen previously on the Marc Jacobs catwalk, was a show-stealing number that proves men can totally borrow outfits from the girls.

6. The time he wore a see-through blouse

When Styles co-hosted the Met Gala in 2019, he posed on the red carpet wearing a ruffled sheer blouse with a lace pussy-bow collar. What really turned heads though, was the see-through nature of his top, which allowed us to see his smattering of chest tattoos peeking through the material.

Ever the renaissance man, Styles accessorised the gothic look with black nail polish and a single pearl earring.

7. The time he wore a dress on the cover of American Vogue

Most recently, Styles went viral again for his controversial choice of outfit on the cover of American Vogue. The rocker donned a Victoriana crinoline dress and blazer for the shoot, which appeared in the December 2020 issue of the seminal fashion bible.

True to his style formula, the shoot was all about experimenting and having fun, and we personally adored the shots of the singer wearing the periwinkle blue dress in the countryside. Styles, who identifies as cisgender, truly broke the mould with his first cover shoot for Vogue.
