TV presenter and journalist Piers Morgan has said that transgender women athletes are a direct threat to women's sport.

Morgan was responding to potential Presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren who is endorsed by US soccer player Megan Rapinoe.

Warren tweeted about a law case seeking to ban transgender students from participating in sport and Morgan replied disagreeing with the politician.

Morgan wrote: "Nonsense. Trans athletes born with male biological bodies are a direct threat to the ability to fairly compete of women athletes born with biologically female bodies. 

"Trans rights, which I totally respect, must not damage women’s rights to fairness & equality."

Morgan has openly supported current President Donald Trump.
