UK pubs are set to receive their first pints from breweries in more than two months as they hope to re-open before the end of June.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson had initially stated in his roadmap out of lockdown that pubs and restaurants would not be back open for business before July 4.

But landlords are now hopeful they could see punters return to the bar this month after The Sun reported that 250 million pints will be ready for delivery from breweries by June 15.

However, when pubs do re-open they will have to do so under strict social distancing regulations.

It is also expected that beer gardens will be the first areas to welcome back customers as outdoor spaces are less likely to allow the virus to spread.

Andy Kempa, boss of Beach Green pub in Lancing, West Sussex, said: "It’ll be a scramble for stock. There’s an unquenchable thirst for pub beer out there.

"Punters are fed up with bottles and cans they’ve been sinking through the lockdown. Now they want a proper draught pint.

“My last supplies of draught were selling like cat-nip this weekend but I’m anxiously waiting for the next batch because we’re running low.

“Heineken has said the first lot will be out for delivery on June 15. Let’s hope we can swing the doors open properly for good then."
