Actor Simon Pegg says film industry is ‘dominated by one particular voice and colour of face’

Actor Simon Pegg has said that the film and TV industry is heavily dominated by ‘one colour of face’.

The 50 year-old has been taking his own steps to help improve diversity in the industry.

He has been working with speaker and photographer Cephas Williams, who founded the 56 Black Men campaign, to help provide opportunities for black actors, writers and directors.

In an interview with The Observer, Pegg said: "Anyone that’s complaining about it should just shut the f*** up because it’s time.

"The film industry would be such a healthier, more interesting place if there were more voices, different stories, different experiences.

“It’s so dominated by one particular voice and colour of face, it just perpetuates a bland mono-voiced cultural landscape.”

Pegg is famously known for films including Shaun of the Dead, Mission Impossible and Hot Fuzz.
