America's Mikaela Shiffrin breaks Ingemar Stenmark's record winning her 41st slalom World Cup title

America's Mikaela Shiffrin has claimed her 41st slalom World Cup title and broken Ingemar Stenmark's all-time record.

Shiffrin was trailing Slovakia's Petra Vlhova after the first run, but Vlhova crashed out on the second, leaving Shiffrin claim the victory in an impressive 58.79 seconds.

The 24-year-old is already two-time Olympic champion and has claimed the overall World Cup title for the past three years in a row.

She now has a total of 61 World Cup victories across all events taking her closer to the achievements of legendary US skier Lindsey Vonn, who retired earlier in 2019 with 82 World Cup titles, while Stenmark won a record 86.
