Arsenal record biggest win in WSL history against Bristol City in 11-1 thrashing

Vivianne Miedema scored six goals in the biggest victory in Women's Super League history with an 11-1 thrashing of Bristol City.

Netherlands striker Miedema set up the first two goals with perfect crosses, allowing Lisa Evans and Leah Williamson to find the back of the net before Miedema scored an amazing 21-minute hat-trick.

The hosts had 32 shots with 17 of them on target and dominated throughout, leading 5-0 at half time.

Miedema added another three goals after the break whilst assisting Jordan Nobbs and Evans for a second.

The Gunners' Emma Mitchell scored number 11, while Bristol's Yana Daniels scored a late consolation goal.

Arsenal's win broke Liverpool's 9-0 record win over Doncaster Rovers Belles in 2013.

Miedema, on her side's performance, said: "I think we played well for the whole 90 minutes and we wanted to score more goals throughout, which I think says a lot about the team today.

"We want to win the league again and qualify for the Champions League. The last few games have been really difficult for us, so it was important to raise the goal difference.

"I felt really good. I was probably happier with the assists than with the goals. We've still got three more games and we need to focus and make sure we get six more points in the league and win the cup."
