Arsenal take the points in narrow win against Liverpool

Arsenal women have beaten Liverpool 1-0 at Meadow Park with an early strike from Vivianne Miedema in the Women's Super League.

After several chances fell to Dutch striker Miedema during the first half she found her footing and fired the ball low into the back of the net, past Liverpool's Anke Preuß.

In the final minutes before half-time Miedema again surged forward releasing Beth Mead in the penalty area, but Mead fired wide.

During the second half Arsenal continued to dominate possession as defender Leah Williamson had a shot on goal from a distance but hit the post.

Liverpool did not give up as midfielder Melissa Lawley had an impressive strike on goal but shot high just over the crossbar.

In the last attempt on goal, the Gunners' Jordan Nobbs placed the ball perfectly for team-mate Jennifer Beattie who found herself close-in on goal, but Preuß saved the header.
