Atlanta Dream star Chennedy Carter suffers ankle injury during WNBA game

Atlanta Dream star Chennedy Carter made a swift exit from last night’s game against Connecticut Sun after suffering an ankle injury.

The 21 year-old rookie guard played just over three minutes before she clashed with Sun center Brionna Jones.

She was taken to hospital and underwent X-rays and an MRI on her left ankle and an update has not yet been given.

Dream coach Nicki Collen said: "I don't know if we'll get her back or how quickly. I don't have any idea at this point."

The No 4 draft pick is one of the top candidates for WNBA rookie of the year.

Dream currently sit in fifth in the league and have won two out of their eight games so far.

The side will next face Seattle Storm on August 13.
