Bellator star Leah McCourt hopes to return to ‘achieve greatness’ after shoulder surgery

Northern Irish Bellator star Leah McCourt is keen to return to the octagon following ‘successful surgery’ on her shoulder.

The 28 year-old, who beat Judith Ruis last time out back in February, underwent an operation on two parts of her shoulder.

And in the immediate aftermath of the operation she was already talking about her comeback from her hospital bed.

Speaking on Instagram, she said: "Surgery In two places in my shoulder. Just out of recovery. What’s one more setback on the path to achieving greatness.

"Adversity has only ever pushed me up ten levels. I know how hard the next few months will be but a big setback to me has always meant bigger comeback.

"This time will be a small sacrifice so I can fulfil my purpose. Thank you god for a successful surgery. Can’t thank @mikekogan & @bellatormma enough for their support.

"As @coachowenroddy said, Leah 2.0 cominggg #NewChapter #EmbracingTheJourney #MorphineEyes #GiveMeMore."

The Briton’s win over Ruis earlier this year was the first time a women’s non-title bout headlined a Bellator show.

And McCourt was due to fight Janay Harding at Bellator London on May 16 before the coronavirus pandemic saw the event cancelled.

It is not yet known when McCourt will be ready to return to the octagon.
