Billericay Town ‘look to sign’ TV presenter Mark Wright for next season

Non-league club Billericay Town are ‘looking to sign’ TV presenter and former The Only Way is Essex star Mark Wright for next season.

Wright, who played for Spurs and West Ham in his youth, knows player-manager Jamie O’Hara and his deal would be on a pay-per-play basis, according to The Sun.

It is said Wright could earn up to £600-a-week at Billericay.

A source told the paper: “Jamie has known Mark for a while and has long-admired his ability on the pitch. He played to a decent standard as a youngster and was a professional for a time before focusing on showbiz.

“Now Jamie has offered him a late lifeline back into football. It won’t be a groundbreaking wage but it could see him earning money to play the sport he loves again."

The reality TV star turned professional at Southend after his youth spell with Premier League clubs. He made 21 appearances for the side before his career ended in 2011 and he turned to showbiz with ITV2 show TOWIE.

He has shown off his footie skills since then in Soccer Aid.

He scored a free-kick for England in the charity match in 2016 which led then Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho to offer for him to train with the squad.
