Birmingham City release Alex Brooks as contract expires

Women’s Super League side Birmingham City have released Alex Brooks at the end of her contract.

The goalkeeper signed for City back in January 2019 from Championship side Sheffield United.

She was drafted in to City after Ann-Katrin Berger left the club to join Chelsea.

Brooks made just three appearances this season for City, two in the Continental Cup and one in the FA Cup, as she competed for her spot on the pitch with Hannah Hampton.

City narrowly escaped relegation from the WSL last week after the Football Association announced Liverpool would move down due to a points per game system.

City had just 0.11 more points per game than the Reds and so remain in the league for next season.
