Birmingham City's Adrienne Jordan signs for NWSL club OL Reign

National Women’s Soccer League side OL Reign have signed defender Adrienne Jordan.

Jordan is joining from Women’s Super League club Birmingham City.

She has already returned to the US and undergone Covid-19 tests and been quarantined for seven days. She is now in Missoula, Montana with the team and will be available for training today.

OL Reign CEO, Bill Predmore, said: “We are excited to add Adrienne to the squad. We have been monitoring her play in the WSL and believe this was perfect time for her to make a move to our club.

“With Catley’s departure and the compressed schedule for the Challenge Cup, we needed depth and quality at outside back. Jordan should have a great opportunity to showcase her talents and we expect her to play an important role with our squad.”

Jordan’s signing means she will be available to play in the NWSL Challenge Cup which begins on June 27.

She was drafted by NWSL’s Chicago Red Stars in 2016 but she turned professional for Sweden’s second division side Östersunds DFF.

She then moved to Iceland team IB Vestmannaeyja in 2017 and she won the Iceland Women’s Cup in the same year. After her spell at this club she signed for WSL’s City.

This is OL Reign’s third signing this season after they welcomed Costa Rican midfielder Shirley Cruz and Japanese international Yuka Momiki.
