BREAKING: Japan reach agreement with IOC to delay Tokyo 2020 Olympics

The 2020 Olympic Games has today been finally postponed.

An agreement has been reached between Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach to delay the Tokyo Games for a year.

Abe said that summer 2021 is the latest the Games could be held but no date has yet been announced.

"I proposed to postpone for about a year and [IOC] president Thomas Bach responded with 100% agreement," he said.

The Olympics were originally set to take place from July 24 - August 9.
