This week we are previewing one Women's Super League game each day as part of Women's Football Weekend which kicks off this Sunday.

Yesterday, we looked at Manchester City vs West Ham and next up we are previewing Birmingham's trip to the south coast to take on Brighton.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Birmingham City

Brighton will be looking for their first win in the WSL this weekend when they face Birmingham.

The last two outings between the sides has seen one victory each, with Hope Powell's Seagulls winning the last encounter 2-1 back in February.

Brighton have played five matches in the WSL so far this season, drawing two and losing three. 

Their last three games have seen them suffer defeats to Arsenal, West Ham and most recently Everton.

Birmingham's start has been marginally better as they have won a match in the league, although they did begin their WSL campaign with three successive losses to Everton, West Ham and Manchester City. 

But they have improved since then, beating bottom of the table Liverpool 2-0 at home, giving them the confidence boost they need as they head into a winnable fixture with 11th placed Brighton.

Albion have only netted twice in the league so far, Megan Connolly and Aileen Whelan the only scorers for the seaside club.

Whelan's beautiful strike put them temporarily ahead of league leaders Chelsea in September, and Powell will be hoping that kind of prolific finishing will be able to kick start their season on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Marta Tejedor's side have also been struggling to find their shooting boots and had not scored a goal until their last match.

But Kerys Harrop and Lucy Staniforth ensured that goal drought was well and truly over as they showed exactly why they finished fourth last season with clinical finishing against Liverpool.
