Brighton’s Megan Walsh says she is ‘really impressed’ by club’s new signings

Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Megan Walsh has said she is ‘really impressed’ by the club’s new signings ahead of the upcoming Women’s Super League season.

Goalkeeper Katie Start-up, youth England star Katie Robinson and Finland international Nora Heroum have all signed long-term deals at the club and Manchester City’s Lee Geum-min has agreed a loan deal.

“The new signings are really good additions. They are mainly attacking ones and they really boost the competitive edge in the squad. But it also helps me and the other goalkeepers, because they’re all trying to score past me in training, so in turn it makes us better," she said.

“Katie Startup is a good goalkeeper, an excellent person to work with, but she fits really well into the group and has got good banter!

“We also got to see Lee Geum-min play for the first time and she adds a different element to the team – she isn’t necessarily full of tricks, but she gets past players and links up really well with the rest of the players. I am really impressed.”

Brighton finished in ninth place after the WSL was cancelled in May and the Football Association calculated the final placings on a points per game system.

The next season of the top flight is due to begin on September 5/6 and Brighton’s first match will be at home against Birmingham City with a kick off time of 2pm.
