Bristol City announce move to Twerton Park in Bath ahead of next season

Women’s Super League club Bristol City have announced they are moving to Bath City’s ground Twerton Park ahead of the 2020/21 season.

City played at Stoke Gifford Stadium in north Bristol last season and competed in a few fixtures at Ashton Gate. While they have moved home grounds, the club have confirmed Ashton Gate will still be a venue for them in the upcoming season.

The club said: "The switch in home venue enables attendances to increase further and, subject to the easing of Covid-19 restrictions, present even more supporters with the exciting opportunity to watch the Robins squad, which is filled with internationals and exciting young talent from across the world.

"The move to Twerton Park will provide supporters with upgraded facilities creating a better matchday experience with more food and drink options, better transport links, as well as greater seating access."

Twerton Park, which is 15 miles from Bristol, has a capacity of 3,528 with 1,006 seats, compared to Stoke Gifford’s capacity of 1,500.

The next season of the WSL is expected to kick off on September 5 with opening fixtures being confirmed on August 7.

Robins manager Tanya Oxtoby added: "This is the next step for us as a club as we look to progress both on and off the pitch, with Twerton Park providing us with a new matchday environment that will inspire the group to continue their development and excel on the pitch."

Last season City finished tenth after the WSL was cancelled and final placings were calculated on a points per game system.
