Canada's double Olympic bobsleigh champion Kallie Humphries has furthered her bid to compete for America after appearing as a guest at the USA Bobsled Push Championships.

The 34-year-old filed a complaint with Bobsleigh Canada in 2018 alleging her coach Todd Hayes mentally and physically abused her. She now wishes to move her allegiances to compete for the Americas.

"I need to be the best athlete I can be and go where it's safe and where I have an opportunity to continue my career." said Humphries.

"And unfortunately, that is not with Bobsleigh Canada anymore," she added.

The two-time champion did not compete during the most recent season while her harassment case was awaiting resolution and is currently still under Canadian eligibility.

However, Humphries made her first steps towards American competition this weekend taking part in the American Push Championships as a forerunner. As the event was not affiliated with the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation, her so far unchanged eligibility was not an issue.

Due to their unofficial capacity, Humphries' times have not been released but this is a significant step towards her defection although she will not compete during the 2019-20 season as she is expecting her first child.
