Boris Johnson's pregnant fiancée Carrie Symonds has thanked the NHS staff who looked after him as he was discharged from St Thomas' Hospital on Sunday.

She shared her appreciation on Twitter, saying: "I cannot thank our magnificent NHS enough. 

"The staff at St Thomas’ Hospital have been incredible. 

"I will never, ever be able to repay you and I will never stop thanking you."

The 32 year-old expressed how difficult the last week has been.

"There were times last week that were very dark indeed," she said.

" My heart goes out to all those in similar situations, worried sick about their loved ones."

She finished by saying she was 'feeling incredibly lucky'.
