Chelsea boss Emma Hayes likes that Everton play with ‘no ego'

Everton take on Chelsea in the Women’s Super League today and Blues boss Emma Hayes admires the club for playing with ‘no ego’.

Hayes has been full of praise for her opponents in the lead up to the match, calling them ‘unbelievable’ earlier this week.

She said: "Everton have been outstanding, their recruitment was top notch and the most impressive thing is their team ethic, their selfless behaviours for each other and they are a team that plays with no ego.

"I like that about them, I think that’s why they will be a contender this year. They don’t have individuals and it’s been impressive to watch how they stay in games, how they work for each other and how no job is too big for them as a group.

“Our team has to accept that the quality is better across the league and the way you accept that is to make sure the team comes first in everything. Even though we are champions, champions don’t rest on previous games, so whatever this team did last season is totally irrelevant.”

She added she’s impressed with player Erin Cuthbert who has hit a good run of form recently.

"Players like Erin, her commitment to the team, the selfless work she does off the ball, her mindset to want to improve and be a good team player has always impressed me.

“For Erin to go to the next level it’s important she takes on all the little details with focus and intensity to find a whole new level for herself.”

Chelsea v Everton will kick off at 12pm and live updates will be available here at NewsChain.
