Chelsea end Everton’s unbeaten WSL run as England scores twice in 4-0 win

Everton’s unbeaten start in the Women’s Super League has been ended by defending champions Chelsea who stormed to a 4-0 win over the Toffees this afternoon.

The first half started with intensity from both clubs as they looked to get an early goal.

The deadlock was broken in the 15th minute as Everton's keeper Sandy MacIver looked to clear the ball but her strike didn't have enough height on it.

The ball hit Beth England and ended up at Ji So-yun's feet, who took a touch and finished well to put the hosts ahead.

Everton had a few chances but their best came from Izzy Christiansen who saw space in Chelsea's defence to see her in front of goal but her one touch finish wasn't powerful enough and so Ann-Katrin Berger collected.

Heading into the break Chelsea remained 1-0 up but the Blues continued firing in the second half.

Player of the match Beth England, who was making only had her third WSL start of the season, made a statement to boss Emma Hayes with a superb strike that MacIver saved well.

England then scored twice in quick succession. The first came as Pernille Harder passed to Melanie Leupolz on the edge of the box, Leupolz then nutmegged an Everton defender with a backpass to England who smashed it home.

Just two minutes later Erin Cutherbert hit a powerful strike, MacIver blocked well but England was there to knock in the rebound to put Chelsea three goals clear.

England then had an opportunity for a hat-trick from Jonna Andersson’s pin point cross but England’s diving header went wide.

Chelsea did get a fourth though in the last minute as Harder struck in the top corner.
