Chicago Red Stars’ Yuki Nagasato makes history as first woman to join Japanese men’s team Hayabusa Eleven

Chicago Red Stars player Yuki Nagasato has made history by becoming the first woman to play for Hayabusa Eleven, an amateur men’s club which plays in the Japanese Kanagawa Prefecture League.

Nagasato has gone on loan to the club from the National Women’s Soccer League until the 2021 season.

She joined Red Stars in 2017 and has since made 52 appearances for them. In the 2019 season alone she scored eight goals and had eight assists for the club.

And she has previously played for Frankfurt, Wolfsburg and Chelsea.

The Japanese international also won the World Cup in 2011.
