Chris Hemsworth ready for ‘insanely physical’ role as WWE legend Hulk Hogan in Netflix film

Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth has revealed he is going to play WWF/WWE legend Hulk Hogan in an upcoming Netflix film.

The 36 year-old Australian will depict the American superstar who rose to stardom as the charismatic face of wrestling in the 80s and 90s.

And while Hemsworth has played roles such as Thor which involve him getting into incredible shape, he believes physically this will be his biggest test yet.

Speaking to Total Film, he said: "This movie is going to be a really fun project.

"As you can imagine, the preparation for the role will be insanely physical. I will have to put on more size than I ever have before, even more than I put on for Thor.

"There is the accent as well as the physicality and the attitude."

Hogan held the WWF/WWE Championship six times in his career and is also second on the all-time list for the longest single reign behind only Bruno Sammartino.

The legendary wrestler is still involved in the WWE and made an appearance as recent as last year at the age of 66.

He is widely considered to be one of the major reasons behind the rise of Vince McMahon’s franchise in the 80s.

‘The rise of Hulkamania’ in 1984 took the WWE to a new level of popularity as Hogan became the biggest name in wrestling alongside fellow stars such as Ric Flair and Andre the Giant.
