Curtis Cup moved to August 2021 to avoid clash with Solheim Cup

The Curtis Cup has been moved to avoid clashing with the Solheim Cup next year.

The date for the event has now been rescheduled for a second time due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It was initially set to take place in June this year but was then pushed back to September 3-5 in 2021.

However this would result in a clash with the Solheim Cup which takes place the same week at Inverness Club in Ohio.

So the Curtis Cup has now been moved to August 26-28 next summer and will be played at Conwy in north Wales.

The event is played between the top women amateurs in GB & Ireland against a team from the US.

Duncan Weir of the R&A: "We have listened to the feedback we received about the rescheduled dates for the Curtis Cup in 2021 and looked again at the schedule.

"We have moved the match forward by a week and introduced a Saturday finish to enable it to slot in ahead of the Solheim Cup.

“We are grateful for the assistance we have received from the USGA and hope this will offer the best outcome for the players of both teams. We look forward very much to welcoming them to Conwy in August next year.”
