Dillian Whyte accuses Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury of ‘staging’ Marbella meeting

Heavyweight Dillian Whyte has accused Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury of staging their meeting in Marbella last month.

Unified heavyweight champion Joshua posted an image to his social media of him running into WBC title holder Fury in his car while both men were in Spain.

It came just weeks after it had been announced that the two giants had reached a 'financial agreement’ for two fights next year.

But Whyte, who is mandatory for Fury’s WBC belt and is set to get his shot at the title before February 2021, has questioned how the meeting between the two Brits came about.

“That looked so staged," he told Sky Sports. "Those two just met at the right time and the right place, and they were just having a casual chat?

"The way the speak on social media - they want to do this to each other. It looks like it was just staged."

"I was just laughing. I was thinking to myself, 'look at these two jokers.' If I see someone and they're talking smack about me and saying they are going to do this and do that, then when I see you, have the same energy.

"I'm not going to be standing outside your car window, standing on the sidewalk speaking to you. Come on man."

Whyte beat Joshua in the amateurs but was then knocked out by the Olympic gold medallist as a professional back in 2015.

Since then though, Whyte has won 11 fights in a row and will be looking to add another to that list when he takes on Alexander Povetkin on August 22 at Matchroom Boxing’s ‘Fight Camp’ in Essex.

Povetkin has lost just twice in 38 professional bouts, with his two defeats coming at the hands of Wladimir Klitschko in 2013 and then Joshua two years ago.
