Heavyweight fighters Dillian Whyte and Francis Ngannou will come face to face in a virtual press conference on Saturday evening.

Boxer Whyte and MMA star Ngannou have been tipped to clash in a crossover fight later this year, something the Brit’s promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed is a strong possibility earlier this week.

And now the pair will exchange words for the first time in an e-press conference hosted by Hearn on Matchroom Boxing’s YouTube channel.

It is the fifth in a series presented by Hearn which has also featured the likes of Terri Harper, Natasha Jonas, Ohara Davies and Anthony Fowler.

Whyte’s last outing saw him beat Mariusz Wach by unanimous decision in Saudi Arabia last year on the undercard of Anthony Joshua v Andy Ruiz Jr.

Meanwhile, Ngannou knocked out Jairzinho Rozenstruik in just 20 seconds at UFC 249 on May 9, the company’s first event back since the coronavirus pandemic.

And while the two are seeking world title shots in their respective sports, they are both more than up for fighting one another in a cross-combat sports event.

Speaking about the prospect of taking on Ngannou, Whyte told Sky Sports: "Ngannou is dumber than he sounds if he thinks he's going to do anything in boxing.

"If he turned up to fight me like the coward that he was against Derrick Lewis I'd hurt him and knock him clean out.

"That was officially the most boring fight in UFC history. The only thing more boring is his personality. If I called him a potato it would be a compliment. He reminds me of that other deluded coward Deontay Wilder.

“Ngannou has to be the most boring man on the planet. A speck of dust has more personality."

Ngannou responded by telling Whyte: "Yes, I would have a boxing match. Whoever is possible and whenever is possible. The top heavyweights. I am always confident in my power. I have no doubts with my power."

It has not yet been confirmed what rules the fight would take place under, but that is something Hearn has said he will have to discuss with UFC chief Dana White.
