The Ellen Degeneres Show under investigation amid accusations of mistreatment of employees

The Ellen DeGeneres Show is being investigated by WarnerMedia following a number of toxic’ workplace accusations by members of staff.

It comes after BuzzFeed revealed in mid-July that a black woman had alleged to them experiences of racism and intimidation while working on the set.

And now Variety have confirmed WarnerMedia’s employee relations group are working alongside a third party to look into the complaints.

Current staff members will be interviewed about their experiences on set as well as those who have since left the show.

A statement provided to BuzzFeed from executive producers Ed Glavin, Mary Connelly, and Andy Lassner read: "We are truly heartbroken and sorry to learn that even one person in our production family has had a negative experience.

"It’s not who we are and not who we strive to be, and not the mission Ellen has set for us.

"For the record, the day to day responsibility of the Ellen show is completely on us.

"We take all of this very seriously and we realize, as many in the world are learning, that we need to do better, are committed to do better, and we will do better."

The show has been running for 17 seasons having first aired way back in 2003, with more than 2,800 episodes and an 18th season due to begin this year.
