Emmerdale actress Paula Tilbrook has died at the age of 89.

She played Betty Eagleton in the soap for 21 years and left in 2015.

Tilbrook was one of Emmerdale’s most popular actresses who had an on-screen relationship from 1978 until 2004 with Seth Armstrong, played by Stan Richards.

She died from natural causes in December, but her death was only announced on The Stage website on Wednesday.

Another said: “So saddened to hear the news that the lovely Paula Tilbrook has died - my thoughts & prayers are with all her family & friends.”

A fan added: “Such sad news she was such a lovely lady. RIP Paula Tilbrook gone but not forgotten.”
