England World cup winning captain Heather Knight to head up the London Spirit side in The Hundred while Eoin Morgan captains the men

England captain Heather Knight has been named as captain for the London Spirit women's side when The Hundred gets underway in 2020.

In 2017, the 28-year-old led the England side to their fourth World Cup Victory in front of a sell-out crowd at Lord's and she is excited by the new format and how it will test her captaincy.

She said: "With the new format there's going to be the chance to have a real tactical input as a captain. I'm excited to work that out and also bring together a new team in a new competition," she added.

Coaching the women's side will be Trevor Griffin, with whom Knight worked closely during her time as victorious captain at Kia Super League side, The Western Storm.

Knight was thrilled with this selection, saying: "It's also brilliant that Trevor has been announced as coach. I really enjoyed working with him in the KSL and hopefully we can have more success together."

2019 World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan will lead the men's side with legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne as coach.

Morgan said: "I can't wait to get started as captain of the London Spirit men's team.

"It's going to be a hugely exciting new competition and I'm looking forward to being a part of it."
