Everton sign Denmark international Rikke Sevecke

Women’s Super League side Everton have signed Denmark international Rikke Sevecke on a two-year deal.

The 24 year-old defender has come from FC Fleury 91 in France and also spent four years with Danish club Brondby.

Sevecke made her senior debut for Denmark in 2016 and has earned 19 caps since.

In 2017 she had a stint playing football in America with University of Northwestern Ohio.

On her signing, she said: "I'm super excited to join Everton on my next step and I'm looking forward to the professional set-up and level that the WSL has to offer.

“I can't wait to get started and work with [manager] Willie Kirk and the team to reach our goals for the upcoming season.”

Kirk said: "I was aware of her move to France last summer and tracked her closely in her opening few months there.

"I then watched Rikke play for Denmark at this year's Algarve Cup and her performances cemented my thoughts on her qualities.

“She is already a very talented defender and I firmly believe if she continues to develop, she can be one of the best centre-backs in Europe in the next few seasons.”

She is the club’s second Danish signing after Nicoline Sorensen announced she penned a deal with the side earlier this week.
