Ex-Liverpool player John Arne Riise released from hospital following car accident

John Arne Riise has been released from hospital after he and his daughter were in a car accident in his native country of Norway.

The full-back, and daughter Ariana, were on their way home in Alesund when the ex-Liverpool player was forced to swerve.

No other cars were involved in the incident and Riise, 39, has not been accused of any driving misdemeanours. 

He signed for the Reds from Monaco in 2001 and in the seven years he spent there made 334 appearances which included winning the FA Cup and League Cup as well as the Champions League in 2005.

Following his success at Anfield, he moved to Roma in 2007, playing 136 games in four years before joining Fulham for three seasons as well as short stints in Norway, India and Cyprus

Riise ended his professional career in 2017, finishing as Norway's most capped player, totalling 110.

Both he and Ariana are reported to be in good health.
