SportsAid have revealed their 10 athlete shortlist for the 2019 One-to-Watch Award.

The award looks to highlight future British sporting stars and celebrate the achievements of young sporting prospects in this country. 

Previous winners include Tom Daley, Courtney Tulloch, and Hollie Arnold MBE, who between them have amassed 42 senior medals across Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games as well as world and European Championships.

This year the shortlist consists of five female and five male athletes selected from around 1000 British rising stars across more than 60 different able-bodied and para-sports. 

Athletes are nominated by their sport's governing body and the winner will be chosen by an expert judging panel including Olympic bronze medallist Sarah Winckless MBE, Dame Katherine Grainger and five-time Paralympic champion Natasha Baker MBE.

The winner will be announced at SportsAid's 'Celebrate the Next' awards ceremony in London on November 19.

The nominations are as follows:

Aaliyah Powell (17) - Taekwondo

Bronze in women's -53kg at World Taekwondo Championships 2019 (senior), Gold in women's -52kg at Luxembourg Open 2019 (junior), Gold in women's -46kg at World Taekwondo Junior Championships 2018.

Amy Hunt (17) - Athletics

Gold in 200m and 4x100m relay at European U20 Athletics Championships 2019, set women's U18 200m world record at Bauhaus Gala 2019 (22.42 seconds).

Antonia Bunyan (19) - Goalball

Bronze at IBSA Goalball World Youth Championships 2019 and second top goalscorer (U19s), sixth at IBSA Goalball International Paralympic Qualifier (senior).

Ellie Challis (15) - Para Swimming

Bronze in women's S3 Backstroke as well as finishing fifth, eighth and 10th across multiple classifications at IPC World Para Swimming Championships 2019 (senior), set one world and two European records at the Championships.

Katie Shanahan (15) - Swimming

Gold in both 400m and 200m individual medley and 200m backstroke, silver in 4x100m medley relay, 4x100m freestyle relay and 4x100m mixed medley relay at European Youth Olympic Festival 2019, bronze in women's 400m individual medley at European Junior Championships 2019.

Abdallah Eissa (13) - Squash

British Junior Open Boys' Squash champion 2019 (U13s), gold at both the Five Nations and European Team Squash Championships 2019 (U15s).

Charlie Aldridge (18) - Cycling

Gold in men's cross-country at UCI Mountain Bike World Championships 2019 (junior), Gold in men’s HSBC UK National Cross Country Series - Rounds 1, 2 and 3 (junior), First Brit to win  a UCI Mountain Bike Junior Series 2019 Round on foreign soil (Albstadt, Nove Mesto).

Daniel Atkins (18) - Canoeing

Gold in K1M 200M at ICF World Junior Canoe Sprint Championships and ECA European Junior Canoe Sprint Championships and gold in K1M 200m and K2M 200m at National Junior Championships 2019.

Enriko Itauma (14) - Boxing

Gold in 80kg+ category at EUBC Junior European Boxing Championships, EUBC Schoolboys European Boxing Championships 2018 and Schweriner Boxturnier 2019 via stoppage (junior).

Karim Chan (19) - Para Athletics

Gold in T20 Long jump at World Para Athletics Junior Championships 2019 and 2017, gold in T20/F38 long jump at the England Athletics Under-17s Championships 2019.
