Friends reunion postponed AGAIN due to coronavirus, Jennifer Anniston confirms

The hotly-anticipated Friends reunion has been postponed for a second time due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The unscripted one-off episode was originally due to be filmed in March and released in May, but that plan was then pushed back to August.

Friends is one of the most successful TV shows of all-time (PA)

And now the reunion has been suspended indefinitely as the pandemic continues to sweep through the United States.

But Jennifer Anniston, who plays Rachel in the huge American comedy, remains positive about the prospect of getting the six main characters back together.

“It’s going to be super. You know what? This has also given us more time to make it even more exciting and more fun than it would have been," she told Deadline.

"So I choose to see it as the glass is half-full that it got postponed. Look, we’re not going anywhere. You’re never going to get rid of Friends, sorry. You’re stuck with us for life, guys.

"Unfortunately it’s very sad that we had to move it again. It was, ‘How do we do this with live audiences?’ This is not a safe time. Period. That’s the bottom line. It’s not a safe time to do it."

Friends is widely considered to be one of the most successful comedy shows of all-time, with more than 52 million Americans tuning in to watch the finale in May, 2004.

The show ran between 1994 and 2004 and ever since its conclusion 16 years ago fans have been wanting the cast to get back together.

It has not been confirmed what shape the special will take, only that it will not be scripted like all the other 236 episodes.
