GB skateboarder Sky Brown donates prize money to charity

Great Britain skateboarder Sky Brown has given her prize money from the STU Open Park final in Rio to charity.

The 11 year-old announced on social media that she will be donating her bronze position pot of £4,630 to a charity called 'Make Life Skate Life.'

The charity builds skatepark projects in some of the world's poorest areas. They have already built parks in India, Bolivia, Jordan, Ethiopia, Morocco and Iraq.

She finished third behind Japanese skater Sakura Yosozumi in second and compatriot Misugu Okamoto in first.

She wrote: "[Getting into the finals] is really incredible but for me this trip to Rio has become a bigger goal.

"That goal is to help the kids in the Favela Mare."

Brown is set to compete in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics where skateboarding will make its first ever appearance.
