Dawn Wells, the girl-next-door actress and former beauty queen who played the sweet Mary Ann Summers on the iconic CBS sitcom 'Gilligan's Island', has died aged 82.

The American, who starred in the legendary show between 1964 and 1967, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning in Los Angeles.

Wells also appeared in a number of other films and TV shows such as 77 Sunset Strip, Maverick, and Bonanza.
