Jess Glynne admits ‘using wrong word’ after claiming she was ‘discriminated' against by London’s Sexy Fish restaurant

Jess Glynne has admitted she ‘used the wrong word’ after claiming she was discriminated against at a Mayfair restaurant in London due to her casual attire.

The 30 year-old British singer revealed she was denied entry into Asian restaurant Sexy Fish earlier this week, and took to social media to express her anger.

In her post, she called the staff ‘rude and embarrassing,' before adding, ‘I think the attitude of your staff needs to change as that was pure discrimination’.

But after receiving criticism for her comments, she has now issued a statement.

She said on Instagram: "Look, I used the wrong word. Discrimination. I take that back, it wasn’t the right word. It was wrong.

“Basically, all I wanted to say was that I felt it was very rude and disrespectful in the way that the Sexy Fish staff were towards me and my friend yesterday and I don’t believe anybody should be spoken to like that and that’s what I wanted to highlight.

"Listen, I have been turned away from numerous places in my life. That does not bother me, it’s not a thing.

"That’s not why I was upset. What I was trying to highlight for [the Sexy Fish staff] so that they can better themselves is that there are just ways of dealing with human beings.

“And being respectful and having manners because it doesn’t cost anything you know? And that’s all I wanted to say.”

Despite Glynne’s attempt to clarify the situation, some still felt she was wrong.

One user wrote: “Apologize to the restaurant and to people who faced discrimination. You still miss the point.”

Another said: “You don’t better someone by trying to cancel them hun.”

While another added: “Talks about etiquette and being polite - after public trying to defame a restaurant incredibly rude, a poor attempt at an apology (justification, let’s be honest). Be the better person and delete the post...”
