Juventus offer former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey to Spurs on loan deal

Tottenham are reportedly in contention to take Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey away from the Serie A giants.

The Welshman, who played for Spurs’ north London rivals Arsenal for nearly a decade before his contract expired, joined the Italian champions last summer, scoring four goals in 24 games.

Ramsey spent nine years at Arsenal and played alongside the Gunners current manager Mikel Arteta (PA)

But according to The Sun, the coronavirus pandemic has meant Juventus are looking to alleviate their wage bill and Ramsey’s £400,000 a week would be an excellent starting point.

The ex-Cardiff player missed out on being a part of the Juventus squad which played out a goalless draw with AC Milan on Friday night as they booked their place in the Coppa Italia final.

On the face of it, Ramsey appears out of favour with Maurizio Sarri and therefore could be one of the first out the exit door this summer.

And it is thought that although clubs across Europe have been hit financially by the impacts of COVID-19, Premier League sides still remain best placed to secure major transfers due to the global reach of the competition.

As well as Spurs, Manchester City and Manchester United are also said to be interested in acquiring Ramsey’s services.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy recently announced the club were taking a £175 million loan from the Bank of England to help them through the coronavirus crisis.

But Juventus are said to be offering a deal for Ramsey which would loosen the purse strings for Jose Mourinho’s side as they would share the Caerphilly-born midfielder’s wages as part of a loan deal.

Ramsey made 262 appearances in the Premier League between 2008 and 2019, hitting the back of the net 40 times in that spell.
