Irish superstar Katie Taylor is set for a huge fight against seven-weight world champion Amanda Serrano at the Manchester Arena on May 2.

According to ESPN, the bout will take place on the undercard of Dillian Whyte's heavyweight clash with Alexander Povetkin, which will be on Sky Sports pay-per-view.

Taylor is unbeaten in 15 professional fights and has collected all the belts in the 135-pound lightweight division.

The 33 year-old also moved up to 140 pounds in November last year and picked up the WBO Super Lightweight title thanks to a points victory over Christina Linardatou.

Meanwhile, Serrano has won 38 of her 40 pro fights, with one defeat and one draw.

But she has been victorious in all 24 of her contests since losing to Frida Wallberg in April 2012, fluctuating in weights and collecting multiple world title belts.

Now she faces her toughest test to date in Ireland's Taylor, who beat Serrano's sister Cindy on points back in October 2018.

Speaking in February about the possibility of fighting Taylor, Serrano said: "Ever since she turned pro, everybody was putting us against each other. So, now is definitely the right time for us to go in there and fight each other to declare who is the best.

"She has the gold medal from the Olympics and she has a great promoter pushing her. Everybody knows who she is because of Matchroom Boxing and putting her on DAZN.

"She's an average woman. She's a girl. My coach Jordan saw her in there with my sister when he was across the ring when my sister fought her. And you know, she's average. There's nothing really to her. She's not no superhero like everyone paints her to be."

Taylor also stated her desire to fight Serrano in December last year when she said: "I just want to be involved in big fights really and there's so many possible opponents out there for me.

"There's the likes of Amanda Serrano, who's a seven-weight world champion - that's probably one of the biggest fights in boxing right now."
