Kerys Harrop says ambition is the reason she signed for Tottenham

Kerys Harrop has revealed the reason she signed for Women’s Super League side Tottenham Hotspur - ambition.

Harrop was the captain of Birmingham City, where she had played for 20 years, before joining Spurs this summer. Her deal with the London side keeps her at the club until 2022.

She told BBC Sport: "Ultimately, it came down to the fact that you only get once chance at your football career and so when a big club like Tottenham come in, that's something that you have to consider and think about.

"I felt I could make an impact coming here. I saw that as a challenge.

"Speaking to [manager Karen Hills and head coach Juan Carlos Amoros] over Zoom, they had big ambitions for the club. They matched the ambitions I had. It was one of the main reasons I wanted to come to Tottenham."

Spurs have earned multiple promotions to earn their spot in the WSL. Last season was their first in the top flight and they finished seventh in the final placings.

Harrop will add to her 135 appearance in the league next season.

The WSL are aiming to begin the 2020/21 season on September 5.
