LIVE NWSL Challenge Cup: Portland Thorns FC v Chicago Red Stars

Portland Thorns will play Chicago Red Stars in the Women’s National Soccer League’s Challenge Cup as both clubs return to action.

Both sides will be looking for their first win after losing their opening matches last Saturday.

The NWSL Challenge Cup will see more action today with Portland Thorns FC v Chicago Red Stars kicking off around 10.30am MDT.

Later today, North Carolina Courage will take on Washington Spirit.

And yesterday, Houston Dash and Utah Royals drew in a thrilling 3-3 match. While OL Reign drew 0-0 with Sky Blue FC.

Thorns release their starting 11

Thorns have made quite a few changes to their side from their loss to North Carolina Courage last Saturday.

The notable changes are that Becky Sauerbrunn, who started at the weekend, is not included in the match day squad.

And Simone Charley, who started on the bench last match, is in the starting 11 for today’s game.

Red Stars have also made alterations to their starting team.

The most noteable is Red Stars captain and US national star Julie Ertz has been benched, as well as Casey Short.
