Reading 1-2 Manchester United

FULL-TIME: That’s it. Manchester United have been pushed all the way but a late Hayley Ladd header has given them victory over Reading here. They are now four points clear of second place Arsenal.

Manchester City v Arsenal

Quick turnaround. Lightning fast.

Ready for another game?

Really important to remember Jen Beattie is playing today, just 24 hours after making it public that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Incredible woman.

Manchester City 0-0 Arsenal

1 min: Here we go then! We are underway in a pre-Christmas cracker!

Manchester City 0-1 Arsenal

3 min: GOAL! WHAT A START! And who else? Vivianne Miedema.

Quite a remarkable start from the visitors here. They are on the front foot from the very first whistle. It’s some sloppy passing that allows the ball to fall to the Dutch striker, but there is nothing sloppy about the finish as she rifles home a venomous drive from the edge of the area into the bottom corner. So clinical.

Manchester City 0-1 Arsenal

5 min: Well, what a start that is. Manchester City look shell-shocked.

Manchester City 0-1 Arsenal

7 min: Don’t blame the tempo for dropping after those first three or four minutes. That was some pace set by Arsenal early on.

Chloe Kelly does well down the right-hand side to stand up a cross. It’s cleared but eventually finds Mewis who has a go from the edge of the box…narrowly wide.

Manchester City 0-1 Arsenal

10 min: City getting joy on the right-hand side again as Bronze skips past two challenges and puts a cross in but Arsenal clear.

Midema then tries to break for Arsenal but the ball ricochets off her shins and bounces through to Roebuck.

Basketball stuff.

Manchester City 0-1 Arsenal

Let’s all take a moment to enjoy this goal.

Manchester City 0-1 Arsenal

12 min: City have responded well without really threatening the Arsenal goal. They’ve pinned the Gunners back but eventually the visitors manage to get down the other end and force a corner which comes to nothing.

By the way, Miedema’s goal is her 11th of the season in the WSL…in nine games. Crazy.
