30 min: City’s chance to go forward but Salmon can’t find the pass needed to slip one of her teammates through on goal.

It’s been a poor half an hour’s football, I won’t lie.

33 min: Just as I say that a massive chance and huge penalty shout for Bristol City!

Salmon is played in again and bearing down on goal. Just as she goes to pull the trigger from ten yards out she is brought down…no penalty says the referee. 

Would like to see that again. Siems came across Salmon to make the challenge and it didn’t seem on first glance as if she got any of the ball.

36 min: Think that penalty shout could be the talking point of the half because we’ve now slumped back into a bit of a scrappy passage of play now. Both teams look like they can be got at but there isn’t enough quality on either side going forward to really exploit it.

38 min: They do look like the two lowest scorers in the division, let’s say that. They have eight goals between them in a combined 13 games. Not great.

39 min: Hanssen let’s fly from 25 yards out but you’re not going to beat Baggaley from there. Straight down her throat and safely into the arms of the 24-year-old.

42 min: GOAL! The deadlock is broken and it’s the visitors who have the lead!

Follis steals the ball away from Daniels on the right-hand side after the defender dallies on the ball. She sprints towards the box and puts an inviting low cross along the floor for Petzelberger to slide in and convert at the back post.

Huge goal.

44 min: How big could that goal prove to be? After 42 minutes of no real chances, Villa are set to go into the break ahead.

HALF-TIME: Well, it was a pretty painful half of football but those watching got their reward at the end of it with a goal just three minutes before the break. Good work from Follis set-up Petzelberger to slide in and finish from six-yards to give the visitors the lead at the break.

Right then, if that first half was a huge 45 minutes for Bristol City then this 45 is even bigger. We’re almost ready to go.
