LIVE: West Ham 1-9 Arsenal

The Women’s Super League will see the return of fans to competitive football in England for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic as West Ham host Arsenal at Victoria Road at 5.20pm.

The London venue, which ordinarily holds 6,000 people, will welcome 1,000 Hammers season ticket holders as the Government begins slowly filling stadiums for live events again.

Arsenal will be looking to build on their impressive start to the Women’s Super League campaign after they thumped Reading 6-1 on the opening weekend.

10 min: Arsenal looking a bit nervy at the back but Zinsberger is down following a clash with England star Rachel Daly.

13 min: Both teams looking strong, but Arsenal producing some stronger connections after Joe Montemurro made little signings during the transfer window.

22 min: Roord gets the opener! Placing herself perfectly on the penalty spot she flies it past Mackenzie Arnold after a perfect ball from Catley from the left.

26 min: West Ham now feel the pressure to up their game and they are forcing the ball up and a goal could be on the way….

26 min: After bouncing the ball in and out the box, West Ham’s Kenza Dali gets a touch on it and kicks it low and in the corner of the net.

29 min: West Ham are now feeding off the energy from the crowd but striker Vivianne Miedema sets off on a run to get into the box but misjudges her positioning.

31 min: Arnold makes a comeback and blocks the ball from Arsenal’s frontline. 

The intensity is really starting to pick up here at Victoria Park.

GOAL!!!!

34 min: Vivianne Miedema gets the second after a lazy attempt up front a few minutes prior. An excellent right foot deflection gives her the edge.

West Ham 1-2 Arsenal

36 mins: Miedema starts to get her energy back after her first goal of the game, but takes it just wide and couldn’t quite hook the ball in the goal with her left foot.
