Liverpool's winless run continues after Everton defeat in first ever Women's Super League game at Anfield

A first-half strike from Lucy Graham saw Everton win the Merseyside derby in the first ever Women's Super League game at Anfield.

After a fumble from Liverpool goalkeeper Anke Preuss, the Toffees' captain put her team ahead with a stunning long-range strike on the stroke of half-time.

Despite territorially dominating, the home side could not capitalise on their 11 shots to the visitors six in front of a crowd of 23,500.

20-year-old Niamh Charles was the standout player for Liverpool, but despite being involved in a number of chances, her efforts were in vain as the visitors travelled home with a fourth victory of the season.

Today's win leaves Everton fourth in the table, 11 points ahead of their Merseyside rivals who sit rock bottom.
