Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits Sergio Aguero’s injury ‘doesn’t look good’ amid fears he could miss rest of season

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hinted striker Sergio Aguero could miss the rest of the season after sustaining a knee injury on Monday night.

The Argentinian went down under a challenge from Ben Mee in the first half of City’s 5-0 win over Burnley and was awarded a penalty but subsequently substituted.

And although he was able to walk off the pitch unassisted, Guardiola is not optimistic about his return.

Speaking after the match, he said: "We'll see tomorrow in a better way what he has.

"He felt something in his knee. He has struggled in the last month, some pain in his knee, so we will see."

"I'm not a doctor, but it doesn't look good."

Aguero has scored 16 Premier League goals so far this season - only Jamie Vardy and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have netted more.

He is also City’s top scorer for the campaign with 23 goals, two ahead of teammate Raheem Sterling.

Guardiola’s side have eight league games remaining and sit 20 points off leaders Liverpool.

However, the Sky Blues still hold ambitions of winning both the FA Cup and Champions League so Aguero could prove a pivotal miss if he is kept out for the rest of the season.
