Manchester United appoint new assistant coach as Glen Harris retires

Women’s Super League club Manchester United have appointed Martin Ho as their new assistant coach.

Ho will be replacing Glen Harris who has announced he will be retiring.

Ho worked in the coaching staff of United’s U21 academy last season and has previous experience of being an assistant manager at Liverpool.

He said of his appointment: “It’s an honour to join the first-team staff at United, I have huge respect for Casey and what she has done as both a player and head coach; I want to thank her for the opportunity she has given me.

“I’m excited to be working alongside her and the squad ahead of what will be another competitive season in the WSL.”

While manager Casey Stoney added: “I’m delighted to have Martin as my assistant going into the new season; he has a wealth of experience and I have seen first-hand the qualities that he possesses as a coach.

“He is a great leader and understands the values and culture of this club which is so important. I’m looking forward to getting back to training for pre-season and putting our plans into action.”

Harris leaves United after joining in late 2018 and helping the team gain promotion into the WSL last season.

He also assisted Stoney in leading the team to a fourth place finish this season.

Stoney tweeted: "I’d like to personally take this opportunity to thank @GlenHarris11 for his massive contribution to the team.

“Stepped in and stepped up when I needed him and was huge support for myself and the team. I hope you enjoy the good life now as you deserve.”
